Past

The whiskeys of Irish Distillers draw on a unique tradition from the great Irish distilling houses of the 18th and 19th centuries. For more information see the History of Irish Distillers section.

Going back as far as 1966 the fusion of three distilleries (Jameson - founded in Dublin in 1780; Powers - established in Dublin in 1791; and Cork Distilleries which dates from 1825), formed Irish Distillers, ensuring continuity of their traditions to the present day.

Present

The Group distills and distributes internationally a range of famous Irish whiskey, gin and vodka brands.

Product categories distilled in Ireland are Irish Whiskeys - including the Jameson family, Powers, Paddy, and a range of deluxe whiskeys including Midleton Very Rare and Redbreast.

Gin: Cork Dry Gin, Cork Crimson Gin
Vodka: Huzzar

Irish Distillers also distributes a range of international brands such as Havana Club, Malibu, Kalha, Stolichnaya vodka and many more.  For a full list of brands see the brands section of the website, click here.

Irish Distillers has strengthened its international position by the acquisition of Allied Domecq (2005).  This represents a marvelous opportunity for Pernod Ricard to become the world's second largest wine and spirits company.

Future

Jameson, the world’s leading Irish whiskey brand has now reached sales of two million cases for the first time. (2006) Over the last decade, sales of Jameson have doubled. In the past year alone, figures in the United States, Jameson’s largest market, show an increase in excess of 20% with other countries such as South Africa, Russia and Brazil achieving exceptional growth rates. Another mark of its international success is that for the first time, Jameson has made it into the top fifty selling spirit brands worldwide and is now ranked with the international elite. Jameson is the fastest growing international whiskey brand in the world and one of the fastest growing spirits brands.

The past six months have been an exciting period of development for the global reach of Jameson with the launch of a new €40 million international marketing campaign, half of which is being spent on media.

Going forward, with the continuous growth of Jameson and the additional brands brought into the Pernod Ricard portfolio we are confident that Irish Distillers can only continue to grow both in the domestic and international market.
