The Irish Distillers Central Laboratory is located on-site at Midleton Distilleries.
The Central Laboratory is involved in a wide range of areas including product protection of brands, product quality management, applied Research & Development or, a full range of analytical services, sensory analysis of all our brands, technical management of West Coast Cooler and is used as a technical resource for the bottling plants and for sales & marketing.
The Laboratory also contains a Distillation Pilot Plant which includes both Pot Stills and Column Stills. In this area new distillate developments and process improvement projects take place, maintaining the tradition of new whiskey developments and whiskey quality improvements.
The IDL Central Laboratory is a recognised whiskey centre of excellence within Pernod Ricard and its personnel are involved in many Groupe scientific and technical activities as well as representing the company in European technical and legislative affairs.
The new Laboratory has a wide range of analytical equipment, including some specialist apparatus not available elsewhere within Pernod Ricard. These systems are used to offer various analytical and technical services to other members of the Groupe. In addition the Central Laboratory is involved in a range of collaborative projects with the Pernod Ricard Centre de Recherche in Paris.
