Jacob's Creek Reserve Irish Restaurant Awards

The Jacobs Creek Restaurant Awards give individual restaurant owners from all over Ireland the opportunity to vote for their favourite choice restaurant.

These awards have become a very accurate barometer of where restaurateurs would choose to eat out themselves, or which places they would recommend to frequent, either for a simple bite to eat or for that special celebratory meal.

Also launched on the day was the Jacob’s Creek Restaurant and Event Guide which is a comprehensive listing of over three hundred and seventy restaurants from all around Ireland pictured in full colour, and with all the relevant information pertaining to that restaurant.

Cork Dry Gin

Cork Dry Gin Sailor of the Month and Year Awards

Cork Dry Gin has a long and established relationship with the sport of sailing in Ireland. Aside from being a favourite tipple of the sailing community Cork Dry Gin has supported and nurtured many sailing events over the years.

In fact, the actual Cork Dry Gin label includes a coat of arms representing Cork City which depicts a sailing ship entering the port and the phrase “Statio Bene Fida Carinis” or “A Good and Safe Harbour for Ships”.

This ‘nautical’ coat of arms grew from the fact that Cork Dry Gin was first produced in l793 in Cork’s Old Watercourse Distillery and here the distillery had access to the finest ingredients; plump grain from the fields of East Cork and exotic botanicals arriving at Cork’s thriving international port.

Over 200 years later Cork Dry Gin retains this strong ‘nautical’ association having acknowledged over 150 sailors over the past 10 years for their major contribution to sailing by the presentation of the Cork Dry Gin Sailor of the Month and Year Awards.

The awards ceremonies over the years have been privileged to have a number of special guests attend and present the awards. IN 2001 the International Sailing Federation rescheduled their AGM to take place around the Cork Dry Gin Sailing Award when it’s President, Paul Henderson, from Canada made the presentations accompanied by their President of Honour, King Constantine of Greece. In 2004, Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne, traveled to Ireland to make the presentations.

The awards would not take place without the major input of Ireland’s sailing magazine, Afloat, and Ireland’s largest leading newspaper, the Irish Independent, both of which are involved in the selection process and the publication of the monthly and annual awards.
